CD changer in glovebox

I have been reading the archives concerning Volvo and after market CD changers for a while now, noting that the prices are pretty steep. What is the deal with all the OEM Volvo CD changers on EBay, which are generally going for $150-$280? Are these cheap imitations, refurbs, or closeouts or what? If anyone has any experience with this, please post.

    Re: CD changer in glovebox

It is my understanding that all oem Volov cd changers are made by alpine. Given the fact that you have to buy an adapter maybe even 2 depending on which aftermarket you may buy and I am told only an Alpine will work, I think the OEM seems to be the best value. Currenty two being sold on that are OEM and brand new, also they come with everything. I checked with my local dealer and they wanted to sell it to me for about $290.00. Good Luck!

Re: CD changer in glovebox 850 1995

I just purchased the kit at a local dealer. The cd changer is made by alpine (same one who makes the standard volvo cd changers). They're running a special on the kit.. believe retail price was $235. They were selling them for less than that since we do business with them.

The cd changer is the same for both 850 and SV70 but the mounting hardware kit that is part of the package is different.

If you go with an aftermarket cd changer you have to also buy an adapter to make it work with your Volvo radio.

I'm putting it in a car that is presently having some work done to it... the mounting kit/wiring harness seems well put together... but have yet to use the unit.

    Hope this helps

    Don

Check with your dealer. 1 of the dealers in denver is offering a glovebox changer (new, volvo) for about 280 installed.
