If the manual weighs 9 pounds, I'm going to guess it is a factory manual. If the topic isn't covered have you checked for updates or TSBs ? Do you have a long time Ford dealer nearby ? You might take the car for a drive and ask the service manager if he knows the answers or has access to more info. Your chances are probably better if you live in North Dakota or south Florida, but who knows, SoCal might be a Town Car hotbed...
