Tool sharing database? and beyond? 444-544

I borrowd Aiden's drum puller today, worked great.
I bid on the special Volvo tools currently on eBay, ending tomorrow.
Board members are probably bidding against each other just to make sure they have access to these tools. But the sad thing is that if I did win say the king pin centering tool, how often wouid I use it and how much of the time would it just sit in my tool box while others migh need it?

I suggest that 5 to 10 of use form a tool bank.
We could bid as a group with 5-10 times the resources as others while offering those "others" the opportunity to join the group.
We could pretty much buy everthing that came by and build a great tool set.

Here's how it could work:
1) Anyone in the group could purchase on behalf of the group.
2) Anyone wishing to buy would post on a thread "Suggest We Buy"
3) The majority of responses from group members to the post would decide on the purchase and suggester would be free to purchase on behalf of the group. Price could at buyer's discretion or responders could suggest a limit.
4) Souce of tool could be anywhere> eBay, private, etc. we could keep a thread "Tools Offered for Sale"
5) We would keep a running thread (database) listing current location of each tool, group member name, email, and address.
6) Requester for loan of tool would pay postage.
7) Each time a tool is reqested and sent, sender would post new location to keep the datebase current.
