If the bumpers looks OK then probably the bumper shocks if as you say, the bumper is pushed in. You could pull it out but the integrity of the shock will have been compromised.

Replacement is fairly easy. Make sure you get 86 or later shocks as the bolt pattern changed from shock to bumper. Guess how I know?
