Is the 700 turbo diesel a different engine from the 240 diesel?
It is turbocharged and longer lasting due to some internal changes. It also does not readily fit a 240.

Going slow, and getting used to head gaskets and timing belts as preventative maintainence. Once you have done it enough, you can do both in a day with time to spare. If you do it every two years, you should never have trouble with either.

IMO a 240 is much too heavy for such an engine, but that would depend on your driving style. be a pretty fine generator motor I suppose.
