I got a new set of the special nuts along with the gaskets from the dealer. I didn't use sealer as I remember. Since I was replacing the head gasket I undid the exhaust pipes as well to take them out of the car and got new nuts and washers for that location as well.
Remove the heat shield and put some liquid wrench or like on each of the nut/studs before you start. All the nuts came off without messing up the studs with the exception of one of the exhaust pipe studs. I should have put more liquid wrench on it.
OH YES! With the heat shield off, stuff a rag in the top of the heat stove intake to avoid dropping a nut in there. (Don't ask me why I say this.)
