You need a new mechanic: that is ridiculous. The pan bolts may be loose and can be tightened. If it still leaks, pull it off and replace the fibre gasket.

By the way, your transmission does not need to have its pan removed and cleaned (this was dropped by Volvo); draining and refilling with fresh fluid is all that is needed.
