There are a number of things, mostly electrical which can cause a no-start condition. A compression test would likely not tell you anything useful in this case. My '93 940 NA had a no-start condition and the problem was the crank position sensor. Other possibilities are the fuel pump relay, the radio interference relay, probably others. Can you hear the pump come on briefly when you turn on the key? If so, the fuel pump relay is probably ok.
