This does not apply to older 200's. I'd be kind of surprised if it applied to any Volvo, but these jokers who have been selling this kind of product have been the subject of much ridicule in this forum.
The theory is that the resistor confuses the ECU to shoot a more fuel-heavy mixture, and therefore you get more power. Supposedly. Maybe 10 Hp. Are you going really feel that??? Not likely. 200's don't have an air temp sensor. I guess your could wire a resistor into the coolant temp sensor, but I doubt it would have any positive effect on the car.
Main point here being some losers will put that resistor into a box, attach some wires, put a fancy sticker on it, call it god's miracle for your car and soak you 75 bucks for it.
