Overdrives

Hi, I posted this question yesterday but the thread seems to have disappeared? Anyway, I have a 79' 240 w/ M46 trans and J type overdrive. The overdrive is shot on this trans. I also have a very low mileage M46 w/ J type OD from an 84' 760 Turbo. I would like to put this trans in my 240. Is there a simple way I can combine parts of the 2 overdrives to retain the speedo output for the 240? Also is there anything else I'm overlooking that won't swap from one to the other? Thanks in advance for any help.
