The customary procedure for winter driving with RWD bricks is to buy 4 snow tires on steel wheels.

This transforms the handling - plus you can carry one out-of-season tire as a full time spare,

Used snow tires and wheels are frequently easy to find because a LOT of Volvo owners spring for 4 snows. I've usually paid around $300 for 4 good tires, wheels, and wheel covers. I prefer the flat wheel covers that have about 20 holes in them, Open. spoked aftermarket covers look good but allow your lugs and studs to rust, the Volvo covers have a ring inside them that keeps crud out.

I added a 1" reflective, white stripe all around the recessed character line on our '90 744 TI. Like your car, Evander is black with tinted windows and white wheel covers. I think that he looks sharp with the white highlights. He can be seen in the pictire gallery at the picture gallery -select 700 as the model to match and go to page 13 find the date April 22. 2002 and find "Evander in his winter plumage" You should also look at "Gustav the wonder Volvo" a couple of pictuges up while you are there.

If you allow the sound system, check your brick's alternator, you can read the back of it with a mirror. If it is an 80 amp. alternator, get a used one for a turbo, they put out 100 amps. Check the brushes and change them if they are badly worn. Used 740 alternators are only $30 around here as all the ones in the junkyard are in good condition. (they last 210.000 miles in my experience)

Volvo extended the predicted service life of their air bags, but they should be checked by a dealer tech at 10 years. (I think that their original estimate was conservative)
