Here is the scenario, guys: after filling up the tank yesterday, the car began to stall when I came to a stop (water in the fuel I just purchased?). The stalling got progressively worse. I unplugged the AMM (the check engine light came on) and it idled better, so I thought a bad AMM. Surprisingly, I replugged the AMM and the car ran great for the 15 mile ride home. (Dirty contacts cleaned by the unplug/plug cycle?) Checked the car today and it idles and runs normally.
So here is where my questions arise. When I try to clear the 2-3-2 code (Bentley describes 2-3-2 as "fuel system compensating for rich or lean air/fuel mixture at idle") the red light should be extingushed when I depress the button for 5 seconds, however, my red light illuminates immediately after I depress the button, and the check engine dash light stays on. So why can't I clear the code? Why does the red light come on when I press the button rather than after I release it? Do I have a failed component even though the car runs fine now? Grateful for any help!
