crazy electrical problems 700 1987

If the engine wiring-harness was one of the few places you found wires exposed, then you probably have a more serious wiring-harness deterioration problem. Check the wiring harness under the intake manifold for signs of rot, as well as on the passenger and driver side of the engine-bay where the harness connectors are.

Strange electrical problems are almost always due to bad grounds. You should start by checking the ground wire from the battery to the body as well as battery to the engine. Both these wires fork out from the battery terminal. Also check that the terminals are clean. Check the positive wiring as well.
