I might as well throw in my 2 cents. I can only speak for cars imported to the US. M 40/41 was used with the B-18/20 engines thru 75. A few B-20's sqeaked through with M 45/46, but very rare. Beginning with the 76 240/260 models, the M 45/46 was used. No 240/260 built 76 and later has M40/41. M47 came along in 87.
