In the '92, the shift lock relay coil is supplied by ignition-on power from fuse #12. The AC switch's light is also supplied by fuse 12. The presence of both lights eliminates a lot of potential fuse holder corrosion from the list of suspects.
My experience with the shift lock quitting was the brake light fuse. It didn't blow, nor was it corroded; it was cracked in the middle where it fatigued after flexing each time the brakes were applied. When my daughter called from the school parking lot with "I can't get it out of park", I looked at the diagrams to see how to best troubleshoot when I got there. The manual release lever was long gone when we got the car.
