this is off topic, but there seems to be more expertise here than on the newer... 1800

I'm really in deep water here, BUT:

I've got a Volvo original "Servicehandbok" for 740 '90-models, with wirring-diagram or so, maybe this can't be of any help but:

It seems that there is 3 sensors, "pressure guards" -one for low pressure, contact when 17 bar, high pressure, contact when 23 bar and then a "cut-out" sensor when pressure reach 29 bar.
I can't right here and now translate "headliner" (?) - but could it be that the pressure in the AC-system is incorrect? -or someone switched the wirring for the sensors?..

Unfortunately there is no "fault - diagnose" diagram in the manual.
