IN-TANK FUEL SENDING UNIT/PUMP QUESTION 200 1986

You could do that. Just bear in mind you'd need a shut off valve, so you would drain the aux tank in only when you wanted to, otherwise it would just gravity feed and overflow the main tank (if already full).
And just be very very careful when dealing with fuel- secure everything as you would if building a race car. I know I don't have to tell you that, but I feel better about it.
I have wondered what that port was for, I always thought it was for the charcoal canister, but it's capped on every car I've worked on.
