I bought a CIS fuel injection pressure gauge. To have norms for what my car's pressures are, I tested them today. Unfortunately, the values I got were abnormal and do not fit any particular problem described in the Bosch manuals.
I have a 1980 242 DL non-turbo w/B21F engine and 270k miles on the original engine. Had leaking headgasket in cyl #1 that I caught early and successfully repaired (head didn't need milling). Compression is 164 (#1), 168 (#2), 167 (#3), and 169 (#4). Vacuum pressure is 14. The car has always idled a little rough. I cleaned the throttle body and air sensor plate and found vacuum leaks that I fixed; still idles a little rough. Frequency valve hums. Oxygen sensor voltage varies between .2 and .7 Volts. All fluids and filters are current. Timing, idle speed, and spark plugs are ok. The car basically starts and runs well. Fuel injectors are clean. The pressure readings (norms per Bentley manual and Bosch FI book) I got worry me, though:
cold control pressure 34 psi (high) at 50 degrees F outside temperature
system pressure 36 psi (low)
warm pressure 64 psi (high)
residual pressure 26 psi (normal)
Is my car worried well, or is there a problem lurking somewhere?
Thanks in advance
