Think that I'll be keeping my brick for a long time

Regarding 200K+ reliability. I bought my car with 164K four years ago. It now has 240k! The car has been and remains a very dependable car. Except for a bad 25amp F.I. fuse problem, it has always started and ran well!

It did, however, seem to go through a bad period in the 185-205K range - time took its toll on some parts. Steering rack, seized rear caliper, steering u-joint, master cylinder, brake junction box, battery, water pump all went bad in about a year. At that time, I seriously considered dumping the car. Now I'm glad I didn't!

From what I've read here, these cars commonly need repairs in the 150-200K range - what cars don't with that kind of mileage??

In my experience, I have needed fewer repairs in the 200-240K range than the 150-200k range. For example, so far this year I've bought 2 tires and a flame trap hose - that's it! Last year I replaced the exhaust from the cat back and tuned it up. I also replaced the in-tank fuel pump, FPR and fuel filter when I had a running problem. Turned out to be just a defective spark plug. Oh well, all of those parts probably needed to be replaced anyway except for the in-tank pump...

IMO - just keep driving it but stay on top of the maintenance and you'll have a reliable car for a long time to come..........
