I am trying to determine the cause of pulsing in the brake pedal.
My bushings are all good, and I suspect my rotors are warped (or have high and low spots on them from improper brake breakin) but cannot tell if my calipers are binding.
When I try to spin the front wheels, they spin freely, with a little resistance, but when I start the engine, depress the brake pedal and let go, they spin a lot less freely and have to be turned with a bit of effort (not much; they just don't spin freely). How much resistance is normal for Girling jumbo calipers (on my 1991 745 turbo)?
One of the main culprits for warped rotors is binding brakes - does it sound like that is what I have? If so I can replace my calipers. But I hate to chase after a problem by replacing parts only to find out it didn't solve the problem.
