Ignition points / ignition problems 140-160 1974

Your problem is too much point gap clearance.

If you set the points too far apart when the rubbing block is at the high point on the distributor cam, then the points can't fully close when the distributor cam turns. If the points don't fully close, the coil won't be energized; therefore no spark.

Reset your points to .016 - .018 and you should get a spark no problem. Remember to set the point gap with the rubbing block at a high point on the distributor cam.
