'85 240 wagon not wanting to stay running 200

So my wife drove her 240 earlier today with nothing wrong. About 2 hours after she got back home she went out to go to the store. She came in and told me her car wouldn't run. So I went out and tried to start it. It fires up for the first second just like normal but dies imediately if you don't press on the gas. You can (barely) keep it running if you feather the gas. It acts like when you're running out of gas and it gets gas here and there, just enough to not let it die. So I was thinking maybe the fuel pump or relay or something along those lines was going out. But then after a few seconds of trying to keep it running you get this VERY overwhelming smell of unburned fuel...like it's running 5 times richer than it should. So now I don't know. Could it be the AFM stuck at wide open or something like that telling it to send way more fuel than it can burn? Or is it getting more fuel than it should because I'm having to feather the gas to keep it running? Any help/sugguestions you can give would be great. Thanks.
-Josh
