trunk locked shut, help get the homework out! 700

My sons 89 740t's trunk is locked shut. The electric actuator does't work. Having purchased the car used the only key he has is the valet key, and the lock hasn't seen a key in years. How do I get the trunk open to retrieve his school books so he can do his homework(my priority not his of-course). I have checked the fuses, the door locks work, the failure had no warning signs, and when I feel the trunk as the door locks are actuated I don't fell any movement. Also no sound is heard.
