Oxide crust buildup on distributor contacts? 200 1982

I'm thinking this is corrosion. Do you live near the ocean or where salt is used on the roads? I assume by points this is an ignition point distributor or is it the four pairs of metal fingers. If some salt got in there, I don't know of a product that can neutralize salt but maybe smearing a thin coat of dielectric grease on everything would help. Perhaps removing the distributor and washing it out with a can of WD-40. You may want to check the centrifugal advance mechanism in the bottom also.
