A couple of us have tried the ECU from the 16 valve cars (917 or is it 971?) and had good short term results, i.e. drives like normal. The 556 out of a California 50 states legal LH2.4 should work fine. Unfortunately, these are not exactly growing on trees either. Any other unit swaps will be experimental.
