A classic case of a bad lower steering universal... My friend and I have discussed this issue as justifying the use of a splash pan. Be careful with this particular repair as it is possible to damage the SRS unit or contact reel -ask me, and my wallet, how I know? You might try lubricating the universals with a good penetrant(spelling)... but, that will not last forever. Peace, Jon
