your car is too old for a coil pack, look under a 960 and you will see 6 coils. i agree your problem might be a weak coil and nothing stresses the coil, plugs, etc. more than a cold start. even if you see spark, doesn't mean it's hot enough for the job at hand. the power stage is the coil trigger and if you have spark all the time, start or no start, it's ok. have a garage check the secondary igniton output with a scope and that'll answer that question. good luck, chuck.
