Stall speed in reference to automatic gearbox

Hi all, I recently bought my first automatic 745. I've been having fun with the novelty of not having to change gear. Learning not to hit the clutch after taking off from the lights was the most important lesson !!!!!
I've been reading the brickboard for a while, but I'm still not sure about this reference to stall speed I've seen. I have a AW70 gearbox and I think it has a stall speed of 2000-2500 rpm. I am embarrassed to say I have no idea what this means. I thought it might refer to the engine speed where it down changes, but I'm not sure.
Anyone care to enlighten a manual gearbox moron ?????
