This must be the same problem as previously posted at:
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=707448

An obstruction in the exhaust the engine might prevent smooth idle. If compression is ok, it should not be a valve seating problem, unless you have a seriously weak valve spring. Cam timing could be off, somehow...
Or you might have had a series of mechanics who are 'inexpert'.
