When I just got out of college, I ended up working in a wooden shipbuilding shipyard. What an experience.
Ordering Resorcinol and West System in 55gal drums... laminating day and night, having to hold my breath to go into the lamination shed. The guys milling planks worked rain or shine. 20 people to a plank to get the thing through the planer. There I was, like a fish out of water. I hate winter, and I hate working outside in winter. I think they made me come out of my office to help out just for that reason.
Interesting job, but it was a blessing to get out of there. THere is no way you could ever get me to finish a wooden boat project like that. I'd lose interest somewhere along the way. Congratulations for finishing it!
Those little 2cyl Yanmars and Volvo Pentas are pretty nice. The Yanmars seem to last a long time.
