Actually, dirty terminals at the battery is the most common cause of no-starts in all cars across the board, so this is not surprising. You should replace the ground cable if it's coming apart, and any other cable that can't be fixed by cleaning up the contacts and tightening it down. If these cables are just loose, take the opportunity to take them off and clean up the contact points with sandpaper before putting it back together.
