What I think I learned last night with my Haynes and a drop light...
am I even close ???
This is for my B23F in a 244GL
I verified the block casting is a B23
there seem to be several engine management systems flying in loose formation
1) LH Jet 2
2) CIS (Constant Idle System?)
3) Ignition control
Ff the first two it seems that you get one or the other...
so if you have a carb motor or older injection you can have independant CIS
but if you have LH-J-2 the CIS function is integrated into the injection system
Correct?
Now the strange and as yet unexplained part...
So there seem to be 2 different Ignition Control Systems
in the schematics and on this board
Chrysler:
White distributor cap
Knock Sensor
8 wire control unit
Bosch:
Red cap
No Knock Sensor
6 wire control unit
My car has:
Red Cap Bosch distributor (I can see the Bosch Logo on the casting)
8 wire control unit (Labeled Volvo #1346105 located Front Right Engine Bay)
A knock sensor I think (located bbetween cyls 2&3 on the block)
So what gives?
I am stumped...
I guess I should get the OEM electrical diagram,
it would probably help answer some other questions.
Like...
What is the blue (2 terminal) connector next to the washer tank for?
Thanks
