I once put a '72 motor in a '74 145......

Steel gears are a TERRIFIC find! Don't toss 'em...

If you found steel gears, somone might have invested in that motor (although I cannot fathom why you'd do that with a BW35...). Look for other things like dual valve springs, alloy retainers, overbore, and so on.
