There are no less that 3 variations on the V-6 (I'm talking USA here)

The B27F ran from '76-79. Not a good motor, poor mileage, not much power.

The B28F went from '80-'86. See B27F

The B280F came in '87 thru the end of V-6 models. Exception: the '86 780 had the B280F. All 780 V-6 had it. MUCH better motor, but by then the V-6 had gotten such a bad rap that nobody bought it anyhow.
