dreaded trailing arm bushing replacement 120-130 1967

I was under the car today, adjusting the rears and the emergency brake, and as I recently bought a pair of the unique '67 trailing arm bushings on ebay, I was examining the ones in the car. They appear to beginning to disintegrate, and so I'm planning on acquiring the remaining bushings and replacing them all at the same time. I have a friend with a shop where I can get the car up on a lift to make this job a little easier.

Has anyone out there done this themselves? Can I just remove one set of arms at a time without removing the rear end? Do I have to restrain the axle from moving around whilst removing arms? Was planning to cut the outer steel ring with a sawzall after gutting the rubber in the old bushings, and then finding some appropriate drift to press the new bushings into the arms. Any tips, "musts-to-avoid", recommended "special" tools welcome.
thanks
