Oil changes: time vs. mileage

I get the 3 months/3000 miles bit.

But I park my "good" cars for the winter.

Just changed the oil on my '86 244. 11 months/500 miles!

Contemplating changing the oil on my 142. 8 months/ 32 miles.

Is this REALLY necessary?
