Very interesting. I'll be soundproofing the 122 better now that all the carpet is out. And the floors are repaired. At least the 1800 tranny is in. You ask how. Here's a few photos of mine.
First I cut a hole as you see here with a sawzall. Great fun!

When I went to install the tranny I discovered I had to cut the tunnel all the way up to the original shifter hole.

Then I took it to a hod rod shop and had a 1800 tunnel welded in. They ended up cutting the entire tunnel out and putting in the 1800 part. Irks me to ne end thet they did not leave the existing access hole in place, even though I told them to.

I solved that with a handy hole saw that matched the rubber plugs from the existing tunnel.

So now sound deadening and carpet are next. Replace that silly silver stuff you can see in the photos.
