At 125k, it shouldn't have needed a new motor if it was cared for. Obviously, by the defficiencies noted, it wasn't cared for at all.

You might be too generous even if you dropped the first digit. I hope the deal isn't sealed yet ...

My '86 wasn't perfect either when I bought it, but it had less issues than the ones on your list. Nor did I even pay as much as your offer 2+ years ago when I bought it. Besides, this is SoCal, where car prices are typically higher than other places in the country.
