940 and 740 problem; no car now 900

On both cars, you might try a bottle or two of gas line de-icer. Cold weather, low gas, and sitting are a recipe for water (ice) in the fuel system. Normally good quality gas deals with bit of water, but if you leave the tank low and it's very cold, it may not.

Be sure you get gas line de-icer meant for fuel injected vehicles.
