hi gholmer thanks for the advice, I got a really good quote from an auto glass company, when they asked if it was an insurance job or cash direct from me. I told them I was not insured for glass replacement and the quote was £80 (sterling) suplied fitted and including vat, I was well impressed.
the norm in the UK is to pay a fully comprehensive insurance premium and then still end up with an excess of £50 to pay. just thought you may be able to make use of this info. thanks again for the advice.
I never really gave the colour match situation a thought untill you mentioned it, but yes thats something to think about . thanks
I had my first breakdown to attend to with the 740 last week my wife rang from a car park at about 7pm. after coming out of a childs party event the 740 dt failed to crank she informed me.
I got myself over there with help of a friends car to discover the battery completely flat - we think the kids had been playing with the rearmost courtesy light while sitting in the rear facing seats ( yes i have converted it now and the kids love to sit in the back there and wave to the following traffic- its quieter up front too! ) lush ! anyway... after borrowing a powervamp boost kit from my employer finally got it to fire upft after loads of attempts - yes i think you allready worked it out . The pre heater 80 amp fuse had blown so this was a story of double trouble. I was in that stage of having only recently bought the car and having to go to work but wanting to stay home to get to know the new girl a bit better and so when it came to the first breakdown situation it was a bit of a grope in the darkness of the car park ! the wife is starting to enjoy the Volvo more now, I turned up the pump a little to make it a bit more "nippy" as wifey calls it .So I am still very happy with the new "old girl" . I am off to the Volvo dealers tomorrow to pick up a new prop shaft centre bearing i order on Monday this week, I found a pattern part supplier but there was very little in the cost difference so I went with OEM at £20 + VAT I am once again quietly happy at the parts prices for this magnificent turbo diesel . Happy Bricking mate. Lappy.
