Where to mount remote oil filter?

Mounting position, I think anywhere you find convenient is a good place.

About the battery, you will need to get a battery box that is intended for mounting within the passenger compartment. They are sealed, and have a vent tube that you will need to route to the outside. Summit or Jegs have these.

If you want to ask someone who has done it, I think shovelfxr (Jason) has done it on his 240 wagon. Ask on the V8 forum.
