Putting in new engine.

That's the only way I have ever done it. It seems easier to me rather than trying to bolt up the transmission under the car. It helps if you get the car well up in air. (max out the jack stands) That way you can point the back of the tranny down and slip it in. It's helpful to remove the upper valence as well as the radiator.
