How long have you had your brick ?

I bought my 82 245 GL 4sp OD brand new in Oct 82 for $13,500. I have 180K presently and now have have to fix the engine (very loud connecting rod, I think). The car has been in Texas for all but the first 8 months. No rust. AC works as good as a York compressor can. Only work to the engine prior to this incidence is changing the water pumps about every 50K and changing the timing belt every 40K,(I let second belt go to 50K as the first one I change the belt still looked good) At 50K the timing belt looked had more cracks than an old painting. After that I changed the belt at 40K intervals. One cam seal and belt tensioner at 170K. Put three clutches in the car as first one got ruined due to the flame trap plugging and didn't know that was the problem until it was too late for the clutch. Changed the transmission when the OD locked up and it was cheaper to change transmissions than to fix the OD. Change shocks to KYB adjustable at 110K on the front. KYBs in the back at 80K. I plan on keeping the car for as long as I can. The K Jetronic has never had a problem. Chyrsler ignition has had any problem but the plug for the ignition control box sucks as far as a design of the connectors fitting the pins in the control box.
