'84 240 DL - delay before acceleration

Your engine has two temp sensors. The temp guage you see on the dash is connected to its own sensor. The more vital Temp sensor is the 2nd one that controls the fuel injection. Thats the one that could cause engine problems if bad.

The symptoms you described could also be an Air Mass Sensor slowly starting to fail.
