HI-

Backing off on the gas to get it to shift into 3rd sounds like a maladjusted kickdown cable.

When the shifter mechanism doesn't work in synch with the trans, usually there's failed trans mount and/or motor mounts. The shifter stuff is part of the body, and the trans can move relative to it. Check all the mounts, RF motor mount first. BTDT
