Water Pump going out?

Breadman,

Open the bonnet with the car running, look at the H2O pump shaft, is it turning? If so your pump is working. If your still not convinced, with the engine warm, disconnect the upper radiator hose from your radiator. Point the hose away from you and have someone crank the engine momentarily. If the thermostat is open (warm Engine) you will get some coolant flow.

Bring your engine up to normal temp and and have someone slowly vary the engine RPM, watch to see if your fan blades turn. Remember, the fan clutch is a viscuous coupling. It has to be very warm to lock up into direct drive, so it may not change RPM real quickly. Still not sure, take a short piece of yarn and tape securely one of the fan blades, start the engine, let it warm up and observe the yarn's rpm increase. Or, if your tougher than most, very carefully
grab a fan blade and have someone crank the engine As it starts and warms up, notice the impending force to rotate will increase.
