I finally got the car rolling as it should be. Had to replace the in-tank fuel pump. The rubber hose connecting the pump to the pick tube had turned into goo as well. I improvised the tool used to remove the locking ring holding the sending unit/ pre-pump assembly, I used an allen wrench, a ball joint separator, and an adjutable wrench. I found an allen wrench that fit across the inside notches on the opposite sides of the locking ring. I then used the ball joint separator with a promg on each side of the allen wrench and used the adjustable wrench around the handle of the seperator (get a seperator that has atleast two flat sides) to make things move. Worked like a charm... and its better than having to ask your local parts guy for a "bung nut wrench".
I also wanted to thank everyone for their help in getting my Volvo back to its proper place... the road.
Adam.
