I agree. The job would be a big one. It could certainly be done, but it would be advisable to get the complete wiring harness and computer system from the donor car, since they are definitely different. Also the transmission, since theblock design is different. If you do it, find a mechanic who loves jobs like this, not one who is reluctant. The reluctant one will take a long time andcost a lot of money. Ideally, you would find one who has done it before, but very few if any such swaps have been done in the US.
As far as power goes, a stock B230FT is 160 hp, but with Turbo Plus or just a bost adjustment to 11 psi plus premium gas, the power goes up to 188 hp. The 6 cylinder was over 200 hp for the early versions, but after several years, Volvo changed the cam to improve low end power and that change dropped peak power to about 180 hp. Hotrod parts are harder to come by in the US for the 6 cylinder.
I would probably swap to a better turbo motor if yours is worn out, or improve yours (if you want better low end response, use a 1990-1995 turbo and manifold; if you want better midrange and top end, change the cam and exhaust; etc.). Some people put in Ford or Chevy V8s, but rarely does one spend less than several thousand dollars and often more for this swap.
