Battery Light is on with no key????????

I think your alternator is bad. Maybe new brushes would help but
it should be 13.5 to 14 volts while running. If the light stays on when
shut down that means your isolation diodes in your alternator are shorted,
at least one of them. So there are 2 problems with your alternator, the
non-charging and the isolation diodes.
