I use Simple Green (follow directions for Full Strength use) and moe recently, Castrol purple stuff with good results.

You still need to get in there with a brush (save several used toothbrushes!)

Also, on my white car, the black grime seems to embed itself into the painted surfaces. These cleaners didn't remove it.

But a cheap wax/grease remover and brushing did.
